The New England Center for Investigative Reporting is a nonprofit newsroom based at WGBH News. Its mission is to expose injustice through investigative reporting and training.

NECIR investigations are regularly broadcast by WGBH and National Public Radio, with companion reports published in newspapers such as the Boston Globe, USA Today, Washington Post and New York Times.

NECIR, founded in 2009 by journalists Joe Bergantino and Maggie Mulvihill at Boston University, is an original member of the Institute for Nonprofit News, the leading association of nonprofit news organizations. Its work is funded by individual donors, foundation grants, and fees paid by news partners.
