Jenifer McKim, senior investigative reporter for the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, and a panel of expert journalists will discuss “Common Pitfalls in Accessing Documents Through FOI Requests and How to Respond” on September 17 at Northeastern University in Boston.
The panel, part of the annual New England First Amendment Institute, features Cheryl Thompson of The Washington Post, Tim White of WPRI in Providence, and moderator Karen Bordeleau of Emerson College.
The institute attracts journalists from across New England states for three days “to learn the latest investigative and database reporting techniques and public records access skills,” according to organizers.
Stephanie McCrummen of The Washington Post presents the week’s keynote address on September 16. Earlier this year, she received both the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting and George Polk Award for Political Reporting for coverage of Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.
