BOSTON – Award-winning journalist Christopher Burrell will join the New England Center for Investigative Reporting this month as a reporter for its online news site The Eye and WGBH Radio.
Burrell has been honored four years in a row by the New England Newspaper and Press Association for his work at The (Quincy) Patriot Ledger, including revelations of crisis conditions for renters and public housing failures in Massachusetts. In 2003, he was named Journalist of the Year, weekly division, by the New England Press Association.
His stories have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe and aired on WGBH and National Public Radio. He has also served as a field producer for both public television and radio.
His post at NECIR and its online news site The Eye was made possible through a partnership with WGBH to co-produce investigations and high-impact stories for Boston-area public radio listeners.
The New England Center for Investigative Reporting (NECIR) is a nonprofit journalism center based at Boston University, working from offices at WGBH since 2013. Launched in 2009, NECIR’s investigations by veteran journalists seeks to hold the powerful accountable and reach audiences through major media outlets and its online news site, The Eye. Its training programs equip student reporters with investigative skills.
WGBH is a public media foundation serving New England, the nation, and the world with educational content that informs, inspires, and entertains.
